We are seeking Trainers/Coaches and Special Guests

**About Us:**

All Nova Scotia Basketball / ONE Basketball Club is a proud member of Basketball Nova Scotia (BNS) and is dedicated to upholding the highest coaching and player development standards. We are committed to fostering a safe and nurturing environment for our athletes while ensuring strict adherence to BNS guidelines and regulations. As part of our mission to enhance the sport of basketball in our region, we are actively seeking dedicated individuals to join our coaching team.

What sets us apart is our unique approach – all our programs are offered completely free of charge. This is a deliberate effort on our part to combat poverty and ensure that everyone has the opportunity to participate without financial barriers. By providing free access, we aim to give individuals the means to put food on their tables and create a more equitable society. We operate under an Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) lens and are driven by the principles of social determinants of health. Our ultimate goal is to achieve Canada Basketball Certification, further demonstrating our commitment to excellence in basketball development and coaching.

**Requirements:**

As an organization aligned with BNS, we hold ourselves to the highest standards, and we require our coaches to meet specific criteria:

1. **BNS Screening Policy:** All coaches are required to complete the BNS Screening Disclosure Form, ensuring a commitment to safety and ethical coaching practices.

​

2. **Reference Letters:** Candidates must provide two reference letters that endorse their coaching qualifications and experience.

​

3. **Police Check:** A comprehensive Police Check is mandatory for all coaching staff members.

​

4. **Child Abuse Registry:** Registration with the Child Abuse Registry is required to ensure the safety of our young athletes.

​

5. **Safe Sport:** Coaches are expected to have a solid understanding of Safe Sport principles, contributing to a safe and inclusive sports environment.

**Compensation and Qualifications:**

We operate as a non-profit organization and heavily rely on funding sources, such as grants, to sustain our operations. As such, we are primarily seeking volunteers who are enthusiastic about our mission. However, when funding becomes available, we are dedicated to providing compensation to demonstrate our appreciation for your time and expertise. Your support is invaluable to us, and we aim to reciprocate whenever possible.

**1. Adult Entry-Level Coach/Trainer:**

- **Hourly Rate:** $25 per hour

- **Qualifications:** Basic knowledge of basketball fundamentals, experience playing at a recreational or competitive level, and a grasp of coaching techniques. Effective communication and interpersonal skills are essential.

​

**2. Intermediate Level Coach/Trainer:**

- **Hourly Rate:** $30 per hour

- **Qualifications:** Extensive playing experience at a competitive level, advanced basketball skills and strategies, previous coaching experience at the youth or amateur level, and the ability to structure effective training sessions.

​

**3. Advanced Level Coach/Trainer:**

- **Hourly Rate:** $50 per hour

- **Qualifications:** High-level playing experience (e.g., college, semi-professional), a proven track record of successful coaching at the competitive level, an in-depth knowledge of advanced basketball tactics, player development, and sports psychology. The ability to analyze and provide detailed feedback on individual and team performance is essential.

At All Nova Scotia Basketball / ONE Basketball Club, we are committed to the ongoing growth and development of our coaching staff. We offer capacity-building opportunities and continuous training, ensuring our coaches remain at the forefront of coaching techniques and practices.

**Division and Gym Locations:**

We cater to a diverse range of athletes, from Division U8 to U16, both females and males. Our weekly evening sessions are held at Rockingstone Heights School, and on weekends, we utilize the facilities at J. L. Isley High School.
