Since January, ONE Basketball Club has been offering new adult pickup basketball sessions, and after two months of great participation, we’re excited to share the progress. With sessions on Monday nights for Co-Ed players and Thursday nights for Men, both open to players 18 and older, the program has quickly gained traction.
Growing Participation
The Monday Co-Ed nights have seen a steady turnout, with 9 to 12 players showing up each week. The Thursday Men’s sessions have been especially popular, now attracting 25 players. This strong response came after the club sent out a survey via Facebook to gauge interest, and it’s clear there’s a strong demand for more adult basketball opportunities.
The Goal: Building a League
Our long-term goal is to build a league that offers not only regular play but also a sense of community for basketball enthusiasts of all skill levels. The numbers so far are promising, and as we move forward, we’re taking the next step by creating teams for the April sessions. These games will be more organized and competitive, and we’re excited to see how the teams develop.
Thursday Night Game Schedule
For the men’s session on Thursday nights starting in April, the games are scheduled as follows:
Game 1: 8:10 PM
Game 2: 9:20 PM
Each game has an 1 hour long slot plus warm up, with 12-minute quarters and running time to keep the action fast and enjoyable. These games offer a great opportunity for competitive play while also fostering camaraderie among participants.
Cost and Future Plans
The program has been free up until now to ensure accessibility for all players. However, as we begin to hire referees and expand the program, there will be a cost for participation unless we can secure sponsorships to help cover these expenses.
If your business is interested in sponsoring a team or even naming the league after your company, we are open to ideas! Sponsorship opportunities can help reduce costs for participants, and we can issue receipts for tax purposes for those interested in advertising.
Looking Ahead
We’re thrilled with the success of this program so far and are looking forward to what’s next. Our goal is to continue building something that benefits both the players and the community, and we appreciate the enthusiasm and support from everyone who has participated.
Stay tuned for more updates, and don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions or ideas on how we can continue to grow the program!
